- Ensuring professional advice is available.
- Maintaining an environmental management system to the requirements of the International Standard ISO 14001:2015.
- Setting (and reviewing progress towards) environmental objectives, targets, and management programmes to ensure continual improvement.
- Providing environmental awareness for all employees to understand our environmental policies, objectives, and programmes and their role within them.
- Ensuring we understands and complies with the requirements of all environmental legislation, guidelines, and codes of practice applicable to the organisation.
- Ensuring our supply chain meet or exceed our environmental standards.
- Committing adequate financial and staff resources to the development and implementation of its environmental management system.
Sustainabaility
The Thornton Partnership is committed to promoting sustainability, concern for the environment, and promoting a broader sustainability agenda. These aims are integral to our professional activities and the management of the company.
We aim to follow and to promote good sustainability practice, to reduce the environmental impacts of all our activities, and to help our clients and partners to do the same.
Our Sustainability Policy is based upon the following principles:
- To comply with, and exceed where practicable, all applicable legislation, regulations, and codes of practice.
- To integrate Sustainability considerations into all our business decisions, design work, and advice.
- To ensure that all staff are fully aware of our Sustainability Policy and are committed to implementing and improving it.
- To minimise the impact on sustainability of all office and design activities.
- To review, annually, and to continually strive to improve our sustainability performance.
To put these principles into practice we will:
- Avoid physical travelling to meetings, briefings, etc. where alternatives are available and to
- To plan journeys to reduce environmental impact of travel.
- Reduce the need for our staff to travel by supporting alternative working arrangements.
- Consider sourcing local suppliers, partners, and sub-contractors.
- Encouraging our supply chain and staff to specify and source sustainably produced materials wherever possible.
- Consider distances to travel when allocating employees to projects.
Responsibility for this policy lies with our directors. This policy will be reviewed annually.
