The works

Working with our client Derwent London, we recently completed a Level 2 Category A and Core Works project to help them establish a new office space in the centre of London. The project was a multifaceted update to an existing structure which included the complete strip out of the existing finishes, re-configuring the existing facilities as well as installing new ones including new mechanical, electrical and public health services.

The client also wanted improvements such as new raised access flooring installations. To complement the updated and upgraded look and feel of the property, we also installed a new WC arrangement with bespoke finishes, and new specialist bespoke finishes to the lift lobby area to create a stylish and inviting, yet highly functional and accessible office space.

The Challenge

The project was completed in an occupied building, with tenants working in the building above and below where the works were carried out. As such, it was important that we considered the effect on them, especially the noisy works, and work in partnership with building management to mitigate and minimise disruption as much possible.

Our Solution

Ensuring clear communication on when and where noisy works were being carried out was essential. We maintained regular contact with the tenants of the building and building management to keep them informed of when works were occurring and how long they may last. Additionally, we also took steps to minimise noise as much as possible by working flexible shifts to accommodate the other occupiers’ needs, including weekend working where necessary.
